Why Server Management Is Necessity
Usually people say that Server Management is a kind of job where administrator work on managing the web server. Managing a server is one of the most crucial aspect of web hosting industries.
While this can mean many things, the main idea behind server management is uptime. The whole purpose of a server is to have a reliable resource for interaction. The interaction may be with users, networks, or other servers.
Simplifying server setup and reduce system management costs with this powerful combination of hardware and software products designed are basically the intention behind the server management.

Yes i agree with shane, I personally feel that there are many other aspects the admin takes into consideration while managing the server which could be sever configuration, Bandwidth, CPU usage etc.

Managing a server is always been a matter of concerned for the clients while buying the servers. "Management is not a single discipline. It can range from business continuity planning to patch management," Consistency and standardization also become a bigger issue when managing servers alongside physical machines.

Server Management include the following :
Bandwidth : When dealing with web servers it may be trick to estimate the amount of bandwidth a server will use. Content on these servers usually changes frequently.
CPU usage :CPU usage is also important. When many different accounts share web server resources, make sure none of them are using excessive CPU time.

That the reason why fully managed dedicated hosting is in demand as that would be without root access is an added serivce of server administration included with the dedicated server.
Normally this includes troubleshooting, security updates, kernel upgrades, approved software installs, data migration and more... You should not need an outsourced administrator with true fully managed services.

I think logs as well security patches are too important:-
Security Patches : The Security patches are too important for managing the web server. Critical things such as web server patches should be applied immediately.
Log check : Logs will show errors and other things that may be of importance to a systems administrator.
Usually log file do contain things such as failed login attempts, failed DNS requests, stale DNS zones, configuration errors and more.

Server Management is also necessary from security perspective You need to make sure that you update all the security patches, OS patches. You also need to check if your server is not under high load. By doing this you can eliminate the risk of any attacks on your server.

Servers require round the clock support and maintenance, and server management offers just that. A server management firm monitors and maintains your servers 24 x 7 so you do not have to worry about the integrity of your servers. A server management firm offers hardware fixes, hardware upgrades, operating system support, operating system patching, operating system upgrades, etc. Managed servers reduce overhead on overworked internal IT staff, so you can concentrate on critical company projects. A server management firm has the expert knowledge of hardware and operating systems in order to manage dedicated servers.

Managed hosting not only provides backup but also provides load balancing for your servers.
Servers are hosted and managed by the web hosting company. The web host company is responsible for all necessary configurations and maintenance of the server.

Managed hosting is the best form of web hosting as it facilitates optimum allocation of the resources. The web hosting company takes care of all the factors required for the management of servers so that uptime can be guaranteed and maximum efficiency can be ensured. Managed web hosting where 24/7 technical support is provided is a good investment for your company, its not an expense.
