Default Dedicated eCommerce

What would the best dedicated server UK package be for web hosting an eCommerce site? How long does it take to get an eCommerce site up and running?

You can consider any of our Microsoft windows Dedicated server. All our dedicated servers are best to run an eCommerce site.

Once you properly install an eCommerce application and update the nameservers at your domain registrar then your website will be running in 6 to 8 hours. max.

If it's a new ecommerce project then no need to invest in a dedicated server rather you can start with a VPS or a Cloud which are similar to a dedicated server and are much affordable. As your business grow you can upgrade your VPS to a dedicated server which qualifies your investment.

I completely agree with Pongers that no need to consider a Dedicated server directly. You can start with a VPS or a Cloud server for now and later on upgrade to a Dedicated server if you need more resources in future. At that time we will take care of the entire migration if the control panel is similar between the two hosting plans.

Some big service provider providing service world-wide. So you can also go with them. UK based local providers are also another option to you.

A few important point that you should keep in mind for hosting an e-commerce website:
The servers or the hosting that you opt for, should be fully managed.
The uptime provided by the hosting provider should be high.
You should be provided with auto-installers like softaculous or fantastico through which you can install various E-commerce applications with few clicks.
The hosting provider should offer SSL certificates.

Default Hi

Their are many good hosting providers but my advice is to please go through the hosting plans before selecting any firm. Compare their hosting service price with other competitive firms and even their credibility in the market.

I agree. The web hosting plan selected is like the backbone of the website. The functioning of the website depends on the web hosting plan. It is important to perform a through analysis before selecting the web host. In case you would like to host an eCommerce website, you can also look for a web host who offers a WildCard SSL certificate so that along with the domain, all the sub-domains will also be secured.

Default Hi,

I think the WildCard SSL certification is a good tactic to make the web-pages secure.
