Patch for Windows Server 2008

It was just passed on to me in a few places that a major patch of Windows Server 2008 is being emergency rushed from Microsoft. Is this security hole really that dangerous? Should we be lining up for the patch?

Any updates released by Microsoft are to be applied that very moment when they are termed as emergency ones..

This is kind of a relief. I know I had read something that they were rushing it out before the normal patchday, so it's nice to know that it is automatically updated. Did I understand that right?
