Asp.net
Does anyone here have any experience running a website using ASP.Net with an msAccess database? I'm just about to start a project for a client, and I would like some direction. I've done this lots of times as stand-alone applications, but this one has to be via a web page. Any advice gratefully received!

Hello George,
It should not be a problem for you to host such ASP.NET / MSAccess based website. Both are supported on our windows hosting packages. You just need to mention about setting up your account on MSAccess supported servers while you place order.
By default we offer MSSQL 2005 express with our Windwos Shared Hosting packages.

Harry, Thanks for your prompt reply to my query. when I signed up with your web hosting service, It was because you offered SQLServer 2005 as default, which is what I required, as my client is running a sql server 2005 database. However, when I uploaded my MSSQL 2005 database, I found that you were running MSSQL2008 as default. I then talked to Stephen on your chat line (I have the transcript should you need it), and I was told that you now use MSSql 2008 as default. remember I specifically chose your service for it's promise of MSSQL 2005. This has cost me a LOT of extra work, and a severe chewing out from my client who does NOT want to transfer to MSSQL 2008. The result of this discussion is that we will revert to the MS Access 2003 database that we have just changed from, hence my question. I cannot help feeling a little put out that your sales department do not seem to tallk to your technical department. I await your reply with trepidation.

Hello George,
I really apologize for the inconvenience caused to you. It seems that your account was setup on Glasgow server where MSSQL 2008 is offered as a default database. If you want to use MSSQL 2005 database please email our billing staff at billing @ webhosting.uk.com and ask them to recreate your account on server supporting MSSQL 2005 & MS Access database versions.
I hope your cooperation in this regards. Thank you !!

I wish someone would put up a how to, it seems interesting myself but I am worried if I took on such a project I would for sure end up with a ton of support tickets going "I broke it" somehow. What are you using this for if you dont mind me asking?

Hiya Craveo. I have a client that runs a stately home/gardens, and they want an application that allows the the facilities of a desktop business system, (accounting, purchase/sales control, inventory control etc), but they want it over a website, so it can be accessed wherever they are in the world. I've written a ton of these as standalones, but this is my first web application. the ASP.Net/MS Access is because I use c# as my primary language, and MSaccess, because my client wouldn't migrate to SQL server 2008 (i don't blame them) so there it is...
