suspended server
Hi,
I recently purchased an online booking system to integrate into my new website so customers could book appointments online. The company set up my web address, domain, Email and a server provider to upload everything onto. Everything worked fine for a few weeks .Businesses started to book my services online and everything was progressing well. Then suddenly my website and email disappeared. I Contacted the company who set it up for me to inquire why and was informed that the person responsible for IT had left and was not answering their calls.
Contacted the website server provider to enquire why server was down and they said it had been suspended due to booking company not paying them the money owed to them.
I said What about all the businesses that were on that server you have just pulled without notice. How do we get our websites back? They said “I am sorry, it won't be possible for us to help you in this regards as you have not paid for the hosting services with us. You will need to contact the person to whom you have paid for the hosting services.”
I said “They are long gone. Where does that leave the consumer who has a website on a suspended server?”
They said” In that case, you will have to wait for him”
My question is it legal for a webhosting provider to down a server with independent business’s on without notifying them first?
Surely there must be protection for all the independent companies which were hosted on that server and through no fault of their own have lost money business and credibility with their clients over this.
