How to hide or protect your data from hosting company?

So I have some linux hosting with a host in my area and have been looking to find some tips on how to hide or protect your data from hosting company. I have some source codes that somebody can change and then use it for themselves. Is there any way I can protect or hide those from them ?

You can get a dedicated server and change the root password, remove any SSH keys, that way the host won't have access to your data. I don't think a web host is interested in knowing what a user is hosting under the account as long as it is legal.

I personally do not see the need to do this.. Yes getting a server and restricting the access is a option but rememeber that removes their ability to manage the server for you meaning they won't even be able to reboot it for you in an emergency.
