Default Difference between a Parked and add-on Domain

Ask a stupid question, but what are they and what's the difference?

If, for ex, I have a domain xyz dot com, for which I need a separate site for.. will i add it as an addon or parked domain on my primary domain for which i already have a hosting plan ? obviously i don't want to buy a new package to have a website for xyz dot com

Parked domains are additional domains which are added under primary domain.
Parked domain display same web contents/pages as that of primary domain. i.e Parked domain primary domain share same document root.
Parked domains are generally used by businesses that want to have more than one web address for advertising purposes.

An add-on domain is just like having a separate fully functional web site which share bandwidth and disk space with primary domain.
Add-on domain has separate document root and so primary domain and add-on domain both can have different web pages.
Add-on domain and parked domain do not have individual control panel, they are managed from primary domain control panel.

In your case, you will need to add domain as add-on domain under your current hosting plan.

Ohh, I knew what add on domains where, but I have always been a little confused about parked ones. I know that a site often gets parked when someone wants to have a page they are not developing, now I get what it means. Thanks.

How a site get parked? It is a domain name that gets parked. Also, I don't think that it often gets parked. You need to park it yourself.

Addon domain allows you to have an independent website sharing the resources of your primary hosting account. Park domain is parking the domain on another website.. Parking a domain on the primary website will show the website of the primary website..
