Default Dedicated Server with Metered or Unmetered bandwidth?

I am using a Windows VPS currently, and soon would be needing a Dedicated Server.But before I make a switch,I would like to know your opinions, if I should opt for metered or unmetered bandwidth option?

I have a social bookmarking site,and day-by-day there has been an increase in the number of sign-ups.Am sure the number would still increase.

Kindly,help me by giving me your opinions and also complete the poll to make my task simpler.

@Wright
That mean you are progressing ahead.... Great, good to know & keep it up good work !!!
Well, regarding dedicated server bandwidth option, i will recommend to go with standard option ie metered bandwidth,

Usually with Unmetered bandwidth option your hosting provider will cap or control the “top line” speed for your server hence it's better to have metered bandwidth with your dedicated server.

It is good to go with the Dedicated Servers with metered bandwidth. The web hosting provider tries to control the speed , which affects the performance

Although, there is no problem in choosing a dedicated server with unmetered bandwidth, I would suggest you to start with Metered bandwidth for now and then upgrade when your requirements increase in future

When we are not sure of how much bandwidth will our site will consume, we shall give a try with Metered Bandwidth. If later, we think that it is not sufficient or enough capable to handle the traffic, we can upgrade to Unmetered at any point of time.
If we pick Unmetered for the first go and find that the site is not getting much traffic, it will make us loose money. Hence, it is better to consider Metered Bandwidth only.

Since you're running a Social Networking site I will highly recommend going for Metered Bandwidth option.

You can choose the standard bandwidth option with the server and check if it fulfills your requirements. If yes, you can continue with it, otherwise, you can upgrade the bandwidth allocated to the server or choose another dedicated server with more bandwidth if you need more resources like disk space and RAM

Thank you all for the useful suggestions. As most recommend,I'll stay with the option to choose Metered bandwidth.

And yes I missed saying that I also have a live conversation application integrated in the website,will this make any changes to the suggestions made above?

Nope, we would still suggest you to choose the Metered bandwidth option and check if you require more than that. If yes, you can upgrade, otherwise, stay with the same

Best of luck!!
