Hosting a web site as it sounds is not an easy task, you never know what problem may come your way while hosting it. One must be pretty sure to have a pre determined steps to over rule the problems. You should not compromise with the problems with the downtime.

Absolutely correct.But if you choose a reliable hosting provider that offer maximum uptime,I think you are a lot at ease.Also,getting mirrored servers is a good option to get 100% uptime of your website.You may ask your web host to provide mirroring for your servers.It may cost you an extra penny,but I believe its a wise decision if you wish have 100% uptime.
