Default cPanel for Windows

As most of you should already know, cPanel are releasing a Windows version in the coming months. We all have our tastes in Operating Systems, but would you consider moving from Linux to Windows or vice versa?

You can vote in the poll above, also leave a small comment stating your reasons.

I'll stick with what I know, the fact that a cpanel that's available for linux, will be made available for windows wouldn't make me change OS.

If it came down to something that I needed windows for, such as ASP.net that would possibly be one of the only reasons that I would change over.

I will be moving from Linux to Windows only if I would host a website based in asp or asp.net. Otherwise, I think Linux is the best operating system for me

cPanel is the industry leading control panel and it's very fast and easy to use. I don't think people would immediately make the switch over, it would take some time. But if the interface and the features offered are good then a huge revolution is expected in the web hosting industry.

hehe. Not many seem to be excited with the new cPanel windows control panel. I don't think Windows version of cpanel will become as popular as DotNetPanel or Plesk.

cPanel control panel has been well known for Linux based hosting packages and servers. Hence, it might be a bit difficult for cPanel to gain the same kind of popularity for the Windows version of cPanel.

However, I think it is too early to say something about the popularity it will gain in future as there is not much about the features it will include or the kind of interface it has

Hence, I think it is better to wait for the Windows version of cPanel

Well, it's really difficult to predict the popularity for such innovation !!!
For me it seems that Windows cPanel would be creating a revolution in webhosting industry

It's ' Enkompass ' (currently in beta) Window's cPanel control panel which can be installed on IIS7 server for Windows server 2008.
WIndows cPanel makes use of Microsoft’s Active Directory system hence you can easily setup a cluster of Windows based cPanel servers. You can host websites on multiple web servers, mail servers and database servers and can add more servers as and when needed hence offering you more freedom & scalability option. There are many more such advance features and option available with this new product from cPanel.
I am just waiting to see a full-fledged Window's cPanel.

Good morning,

I voted; Neither, I'll stay where I am

I have one site on my VPS so there is no need for any sort of third party tool. I am very much a command line person, GUIs are great for things like file system visualisation but are much worse for configuring things once you have got past the "it's totally new stage". I get really annoyed about the time it takes for Plesk to change it's screens.

I do have Plesk, because it was the easiest solution for a mail server, but I don't use it for anything else. I find it much harder to use than the normal Windows utilities and it doesn't interact well to you setting up things outside of it.

Anyway my site is ASP.Net based so I am tied to Windows, please don't suggest Mono

Bye

Ian

Well, it's good to know that Windows cPanel control panel will include so many features

However, I think we will have to wait and check the interface, stability and other features as this is very important. If cPanel of Windows will include many features but it is not stable or if the interface is found to be difficult, it won't be successful in establishing itself
