web site not appearing?

Hi, (newbie question - sorry!)
I've just opened a windows hosting account, and altered the DNS at my domain parking site to point to your nameservers.

I'm getting this when I try to access the web name, which I assume means I'm getting there:

"This web site has just been created from DotNetPanel and it is still under construction.
The web site is hosted by AcmeHosting."

but i was expecting to see the index.html file I ftp'd into your wwwroot dir.

Is there a time lag somewhere, or something that needs enabling?

Hi,

I'm not too sure on Windows web hosting accounts with dotnetpanel, have you tried clearing your cache or ensuring that it's uploaded to the correct directory?

Also if the domain hasn't yet been propogated into the system it could still be showing the page on the default IP of the server.

Hi,
doing ctrl/refresh makes no difference. The files are in the wwwroot directory.

It can take up to 48 hours for the dns to propagate

With a linux account you can check your site by going to http://youripaddress/~youraccount

Fixed it! While I was chatting to your support people I noticed my index file was index.html NOT index.htm bugger!!!!!

That's the only issue with windows, default file types and MIME types

I run most of my websites from IIS on a Windows server, I like it due to the GUI and the flexibility. The only issue I have encountered is with mod_rewrite but I found a way to fix that with a hefty bit of research.

Don't get me wrong, I used to adore Linux but since I've been using IIS it's made my life a whole lot easier
