Good morning,
Just to be clear I am on a VPS here with 400GB bandwidth per month so this doesn't affect me. Nor am I "having a go" at WHUK here, I am merely pointing our how easy it can be to assume that a host who uses the word unlimited is automatically out to con the customer.
I expect that most people who sign up to an unlimited bandwidth hosting plan do not believe that they are signing up to truly unlimited, that they can stream video 24*7 to a thousand users, they believe that unlimited means enough for them.
Its a reasonable interpretation.
If you want to suggest that unlimited bandwith is a misleading statement, then surely so is unlimited websites.
The account here that I mentioned has 5GB of monthly bandwidth and if you read the T&Cs they say;
If the number of hits are more than the allotted bandwidth the website will no longer run
Whilst I understand that you can create as many sites as you want within you 500MB of disc space and this could reasonably be interpreted as unlimited, in practice the 5GB bandwidth on your account reduces the ability to serve these sites from unlimited to multiple. Remember that the title of the service is Enterprise Hosting not private/personal hosting, so it is reasonable to argue that the sites will be larger with more hits than a hobby site.
The same logic applies to Unlimited Email Accounts, the T&Cs limit outgoing emails to 300 per hour per account. So in practical terms there is a genuine limit on the number of email accounts that can be used as they simply would be unable to send email. Depending upon how you wish to view it, I could make a reasonable argument that the maximum number of email accounts is in fact 60, this would allow each account to send 5 emails an hour or 100 with 3 emails per hour.
How would these arguments look if they were posted on another host's forum?
Bye
Ian

We offer what we advertise, and there's not any hidden policy we have clearly mentioned everything on our website. If we are advertising that client can host UNLIMITED websites then we have also mentioned the disk space and bandwidth limitations of all the plans. If a client is using cPanel basic plan and if he is having free disk space available, he can keep on adding websites until he utilizes the complete allocated disk space and there is no limitation on the number of websites. We have used the term "ENTERPRISE" because it covers hosting for both business and personal websites. There is no need of a vps or dedicated server for a small business website. We want our clients to opt for the right hosting plan. For large business and organizations we have other plans available and such clients know what they need. The same logic applies to Unlimited Email Accounts.
We have maintained complete transparency in our TOS as well as supported features of all our hosting plans to ensure that there are no nasty surprises in store for our customers. Our customers appreciate this fact and we have never had any complaints so far with regards to "host UNLIMITED websites or email accounts".

From an outsiders point of view and from someone who has VPS accounts and reseller accounts with other companies (and looking to move one over) I can see where people looking for hosting get confused, I've just been in an affiliates forum and pointed a customer to here for a reseller account, he is looking at the word "unlimited" and obviously thinking he can set up a million email accounts and hosting accounts.
I've tried to put him right via pm but he's still confused, to be honest guys i think the word "unlimited" should be banned or at least have a link explaining the term.
Cheers

I am sure that it is not possible. It is depended on Dedicated server support & every Dedicated server has some limit.
I can't believe that anyone offer unlimited web hosting service.
Company offer free web hosting, but I don't think that can be possible unlimited web hosting.

One must understand that there isn't anything such as unlimited. The dedicated server is simply a hardware which has a particular capacity, hence has some limitations. This is exactly where people go wrong, they simply check the packages and sign up,and later they go back to the host, complaining about the mis-commitment. I wouldn't blame the host in such cases,it is our responsibility as a customer to do some research, understand various aspects and only then look for deals.

It is not possible to offer unlimited disk space and bandwidth for the hosting provider as he himself does not have it. The reason for this is the fact that the servers in the data center has some limitations when it comes to the disk space and bandwidth. Suppose a dedicated server has 160 hard disk and 2000 GB bandwidth per month, how can you expect the hosting provider to offer you more than that
The other thing is, some of the hosting providers claim to offer unlimited disk space and bandwidth for $2 or $4 per month. This is not possible as the hosting provider gets a dedicated server for higher cost than this ( as far as I know ).

It is not possible to offer unlimited web hosting, When the bandwidth of the hosting companies, the server memory, the hardware for networking, as well as disk storage are physically limited.
As i read somewhere, unlimited bandwidth is only possible if the website hosting company possess their own internet broadband company. If they have own broadband company, then it is possible to offer their customers unlimited bandwidth per second.
