Has anyone here noticed that WHUK has launched SEO Servers as well? When we all were engaged in the discussion about VMWare Cloud Hosting, we missed another great start of WHUK.

As the name suggest they seems to be special SEO servers which may be very helpful for online businesses who are trying to top rank in search engines !!

Good to see WHUK started offering this service,

it would be fair to say that a speedy site will rank better, recently this has been confirmed by Google's Public Affairs Department at .net magazine.

Interesting find Paul. It's good to know the even site speed will now be taken into consideration in the search ranking algorithm. However does this also take into consideration the connection speeds and origins of site visitors? Are these factors included in the calculation?

I've currently no idea about those factors but the landing page speed is a biggest factor in Google Adwords Quality Score because Slow landing page = higher ad cost. For organic listing slowing down your own page badly impact to user experience, they'll switch over to other sites because users want faster web browsing. As per recent research by Akamai published in pingdom website "the expectations of users for faster web browsing have doubled in the past 2 years"

To increase the speed of your site, the primary requirement is to get a hosting plan or server with good connection speed. It's very helpful documentation though am not much into web development but still i got many points which i can digest easily

I was surprised to know about Image mapping facility which can slow down website load time

Image maps combine multiple images into a single image. The overall size is about the same, but reducing the number of HTTP requests speeds up the page load time.
