Default Webhosting UK Affiliate program

Afternoon All

If anyone is using the webhosting UK affiliate links, make sure you are using the right link.

It appears there are 2 different affiliate management system accessable, the first is WebHosting UK - Affiliate Program which still tracks the sales but does not record the sales and is linked from the my account footer web page.

The second, which I am now told is the correct on to use, but they won't transfer any commission to, is WEBHOSTING UK COM LIMITED - Affiliates

As always, companies are happy to receive the business but not pay out for it, not just Webhosting UK but some of the major affiliate providers.

Cheers

Stuart

Hi Stuart,

FYI, our old affiliate system tracks all the records. If any of our affiliates are still using the old url and if the order comes through that url then the respective affiliate will get the commission. If anyone contact us for the affiliate issues then we ask them to use the new affiliate url.

As per our old affiliate sytem you should have our website banner or url on stuarttownsend.co.uk but there's nothing on your website. So, far we have received two unique hits from your affiliate url, one hit is from your IP and the other is from my IP.

The hit which came from your IP on 17th Sep 09 is the same IP from which you've signed up for the Basic plan on 12/01/2008. Self made sign ups are not eligible for affiliate commission. If you provide your affiliate url to any of your clients and ask them to sign up using that url then you'll get the affiliate commission.

Hi Speedy

I would have to say that affiliate links are managed acceptably by Webhosting UK (just as James has answered) and unless you personally know that someone has registered through an affiliate link provided by yourself, it would be prudent not to suggest that WHUK have done anything wrong

The link you have for your affiliate is not really standing out as such, but as a suggestion, try posting the link on anywhere you visit too, and that may help boost the hits (and potential sales) that you may have

I myself have not received any commissions (in case you wonder) but my one link (yes I know I'm sad by not posting it everywhere guys ) has received 45 hits, so that means it works
Keep up the site though and as I say, try posting the link across more sites, or pages, and see if that helps improve your chances. A person who owned a really large and profitable double glazing company once told me - a thousand leaflets will produce 2, perhaps 3 results

Go figure that
Best regards
MrTWS

When I queried the sale with James no explanation was given as to why the sale would not be given. This seams to be a standard response from the majority of affiliate schemes across all sectors.

The tracking between the two systems was also not explained in my reply from James but it seams strange to have 2 different affiliate systems running on the same site.

I have checked the terms and conditions and are unable to see any reference to self made sign ups not elgiable, although the client was with me when the sale was made. You are correct link is not currently on my site, the click was made though my development site hosted locally.

With the current issues facing affiliate marketing with tracking sales etc... using cookies etc... alot of sales do not get tracked and I do and will contine to query untracked sales which I know have been made.

I have heard that if spammers acheive 1 or 2 hits from 50000 emails, thats a sucess !

Thanks

Stuart

Good morning

I have checked the terms and conditions and are unable to see any reference to self made sign ups not elgiable, although the client was with me when the sale was made

I am considering creating an affiliate scheme for refers to my site, although I have have not done so I have looked at it very carefully.

One issue that concerned me was the notion that in theory every customer could become an affiliate and just sign themselves up and in effect get a discount.

A reasonable person would agree that the point of the affiliate program is to generate new sales from new customers and not to benefit the Affiliate's account with the merchant and this may be implicit from other terms and conditions in the Affiliate agreement so no explicit terms may be required. This would apply in the situation described above and in the context of this site it would be unreasonable to pay an existing customer an affiliate commission if he added or upgraded his own account.

If you are correct and there is nothing in the T&Cs explicitly excluding Self made sign ups and this is a genuine new customer then I support the notion that you are entitled to the commission.

By the way is it just a coincidence that you started this thread just after mine on a similar topic on Web Designing and Development or were you expecting some support?

Bye

Ian

Hi Ian

It was pure coincidence, I had just had the reply from James so it was more of an information post about having 2 affiliate systems running and as far as I was concerned not linked.

Cheers

Stu
