the new one
knitone.co.uk I really don't see why it is doing this. Believe it or not when I connect via broadband I can't do anything with the above domain. but when I switch the BB off and go dial up I can see it. So maybe it might be something to do with ISP but it is something I have NEVER heard of and really don't know how to sort out. Hope you can do something James. BTW I asked tech sup why emails to the domain were being bounced back but they ignored the question. I remember it happening last time I transfered a domain name and looked back at all the emails. I hadn't set up an email account but I had asked Tech sup both on that occasion and on this occasion if there was anything I needed to do and they said NO. Why didn't they tell me I needed to do this when I asked? |

not really because the old site should look like the new site or i would be losing lots of money. I managed to upload it while on Dial up but am not prepared to pay to do this all the time when I have broadband !
It is when i try and go to some of the new stuff that I get the problem - such as knitone.co.uk/forum Or more importantly knitone.co.uk/cpanel |

i can view both them links without problem. So isp problem or can the domains be blocking your ip address when on BB.
It isn't Orange BB is it?

My dial up is orange which works fine.
my BB is NTL or Virgin or whatever it is called now. I have tried emailing them but haven't even got an acknowledgement back yet. When I phoned I was on hold for 20 minutes at premium rate then gave up. Can anyone explain what is going on here? I don't understand the technology behind this. How can the Internet be different if you connect by a different ISP? At least if you can see the website I know my customers can and I have managed to work out for myself why the emails were not getting through - no thanks to tech sup. When you say you can see both links I assume the page is changing to view the forum and to get the cpanel password prompt? When I view it all I see is the main page coming up again. What more can I do?- I want to get it all sorted and set up before I have to go into the office this evening. |

I don't specifically like talking to the technical support team unless it's somebody good who i know such as Ramon, Christine or even personally James. It's kind of hard to get understanding measures from the other staff members. Whereas this case may be down to Cassie or something else i just thought i'd add that into the topic.

I agree that tech sup can be a bit hit and miss. I had major issues when I was actually buying the package and got conflicting stories until James stepped in.
But how can we specify who in tech sup we want to deal with our problems? I really need to get some more stuff published to it but MS FrontPage wont work unless I am on the Dial Up - then the publishing takes ages. I really don't understand why this is happening - I have never heard of it before. |

I Just clearly take a chance with tech support, see if they are good.. if they are simply not that good at speaking a word of the queens english language i will just ask them kindly if i can speak to somebody who i know for a fact is good. Or an alternative solution is to contact somebody who is on the WHUK MSN which i guarantee will be a big help

yes Cassie can see cpanel login and forum.
I know from the net that mainly orange bb but also VM have/had a few problems with there service blocking certain randon sites. Goto this link, http://anonymouse.org/anonwww.html and type an address that you can't access and see if it works. If it does then i would suggest contacting isp

Yep I can see the forum one but the cpanel isn't letting me in.
So how do I contact the ISP without hanging on the phone for hours - they haven't even acknowledged my email yet. I still don't know why this is happening - anyone with an explanation that will not go over my head I really need to get this sorted so I can publish to the site. |

I don't know how and I don't know why, but this seems to have resolved itself. It doesn't seem to be anything that tech sup did here or on anywhere else. Perhaps it was just a case of waiting for the dns to resolve on my isp's server but I don't really see why or how that happens.
Whatever - it is sorted. I am just a little disappointed once again in some of the responses I have had from tech sup etc. - this includes (non) responses from 123-REG & NTL as well as here. It just seems that whenever I try and move sites or domains to you here that there is always a problem which takes countless emails and lots of time and hair pulling to resolve. I guess we are back to the same subject as many of the threads on this forum - difficulty in understanding each other. |

I had a similar problem the other day and it was due to my IP being blocked in the server. That would explain why you don't get a problem on dial-up.

When I change DNS for any of the websites then I force DNS refresh using following command on command prompt of my desktop :- ipconfig /flushdns fire this command couple of times and your DNS cache will clear immediately.
