Default AOL ban on email from webhostsuk

My customers who send legitemate email to customers who use AOL are having it returned with a refusal to accept email from webhostuk servers.

I have asked several times support about this and even opened a ticket AND contacted AOL direct, no joy and no response, why?

May be a silly question, but have you got reverse DNS setup and a SPF DNS entry?

All our servers have rDNS setup and by default every domain has got SPF records setup. Hotmail and AOL have gone crazy. There's no way to get things sorted with Hotmail and AOL.

AOL is a huge problem for everyone. I have looked into the matter when I was trying to sort out Yahoos spam filtering and i see no way around it. Seems everyone is having the same problem and always have with AOL.

\if anyone comes up with a solution let me know.

I did manage to send some newsletters to some hotmail accounts but 25 out of 41 were returned. Tried sendmail and smtp with the same effect.

First you need Reverse DNS and SPF and an email address like abuse[@]mydom.co.uk
and then you go to AOL : postmaster.aol.com/
and complete the correct sections for your nameserver and domains, check you can comply and request the give you white list status.

If you have customers who violate this you should warn them once and charge them £1000 + VAT for spam violations, this keeps them on the straight and narrow.

You need to get your IP's whitelisted from here :-

https://postmaster.live.com/snds/addnetwork.aspx

make sure that you have rDNS setup before you submit your IPs from "Request Access" section.
