Without trying to get too po-faced about it I'm never sure what this sort of image is supposed to say. Is the site trying to imply that if you sign up for a hosting package scantily clad women will find you attractive? Or is trying to appeal to scantily clad women?

Overall isn't it more likely that a potential customer will take one look, assume it's an amateurish, and mildly offensive, attempt at Web design and bugger off.
Admittedly that is fairly unlikely to happen but I'd argue that its still more likely than a potential customer thinking "Phwoar I'm signing up with these blokes because they hang around with girls like her".
But wouldn't it be exploitation rather than sexism?
Yes sex does sell but you will find many sites run by females using women instead of men. Most sites that I visit actually have men in the header not women, now that I can see as sexist because most of these images are of men fixing pcs, equipment, etc, and not a woman in sight.

I don't feel that I have a sexist bone in my body but feel out of my depth here talking about sexism, scared of saying or writing the wrong things, I feel it impinges on my right to freedom of speech. I wonder how many feel the same as i do.
I am put off adding my comments to a thread about beautiful women for fear of appearing sexist, even though i was born to appreciate the look of the opposite sex, it's my nature as i'm sure is everyones.
My wife earns more than me, works harder, and i do more housework than she does, I don't have any problem with that. She likes looking at good looking guys and maybe she talks about them in a forum somewhere, I don't know and don't care if she does. I hope that feeling is mutual. I certainly wouldn't think she was sexist if she did, and the forum had a half dressed bloke in a santa uniform in the header.

Now maybe i have no right to comment on sexism as I am a male, but it is all taken too far imo. But if any woman on this forum feels that the image is sexist then i am forced to agree and have no problem accepting that, but just because sex sells doesn't necessarily make it sexist.

Maybe I have it all wrong, maybe the image was sexist! Maybe I can't see it because i too am sexist! I hope not, but it is a sad day imo when it becomes difficult to say, write, display images, in case it offends. Traditional Santa's offend the obese, so most department stores have slim Santa's! Getting off track there but it all relates to how difficult it is becoming to remain pc in this day and age.

But you are a bloke so you want to look at women. I am a woman and don't want to look at other women.

The point is that there is already one woman in the header for the live chat (never spoken to a woman on that yet - that I know of) so why put another dressed as Santa when Santa is traditionally a man. Blatantly sexist.

It is perpetuating the misguided view that all computer stuff must be for men just like most computer mags have women on the front. And why use a good looking busty blond if it was not for a sexy reason - why not a ugly fat girl with spots !!

There are so many Xmas images out there you could have chosen - trees, angels, real Santa's, stars, piles of presents..........

The reason I didn't know the text was a link was because it doesn't turn into a hand when you hover over it. It is traditional to show that text or an image is a link by changing the cursor when it rolls over.

If you do not show it is a link in this way then you will still get people being annoyed that free domain is not mentioned anywhere else on that page. Not much of an improvement then.....

Me, James, Our Designer, Developer and all other members in our Management Team approved this header and none of us like to see pic of another Man in header of our website. I think my pic would be better than those Royalty free images so does everyone else in our Team.

Other reason to choose a Blond in xmas header was to have a completely different xmas theme.

Thank you Jon

What percent of them are women?

You have completely put me off you by using 2 (sexy good looking) women in your header - it makes it look like a Swedish massage site rather than a serious web hosting site. I agree with Kev - it looks amateurish.

If I didn't already have hosting with you I would take one look at that home page and (after trying to find out where it gave details of the free domain and not finding any) I would move on.

If it's just an image why not change it for something that is neutral?

I first double checked to make sure if this thread was just about an image, but yeah it's actually true. You know people have different views and opinions, ranting what you prefer really isn't going to help and end of the day it's not always your decission.

Besides it's neutral to me.. it being a santa or what ever you like.. so what?
So you would think again about signing up for a host, just because an image? Well that says alot =)

LoL... I couldn't help stop laughing when I went through this thread, but honestly, I don't want to hurt anyone or their feelings or thoughts, but to be frank, isnt that female beautiful ? I admire the points you each have placed so nicely. I strongly agree to this point that Women are more beautiful then Men, isnt it a universal truth or rather natural ? I just don't understand the point on debating just because of an image.. I hope that this thread won't lead us into discrimination between sex. Anyways, I hope the pic will be changed as soon as Christmas is over Once again, no offense.

The old forum one contained a man and a woman, although you don't really see men on LiveSupport images either.

From what i'm guessing is, there are many men.. more than women in the Webhosting Industry. Most of which will find it satisfying to see a woman dressed in a santa suit at Christmas on their #1 Webhosting providers website.

I tried not to be sexist then, sorry if i was

I don't really care if I am called sexiest over this but I can't imagine a man wearing a santa's hat. It's something I never see. Besides, same goes for women unless it's a cartoon version or santa himself etc
