I use Facebook mostly because my relatives do too. MySpace has always been a place for kids that want to mess about with stupid design. I can directly quote a kid I heard in the street recently: "I prefer MySpace because you can change the cursors". I prefer Facebook because it doesn't let people do that!

I agree that the downside of Facebook is the nonsense applications. But - it's a great way to ensure users stick around longer.

Not for me - I check Facebook less and less now. Obviously its much better than the abomination that is MySpace but perhaps I'm just too old for social networking. Having said that my partner loves Facebook.
