I'd recommend kayako it has built in live chat as well as ticket system, it has all the features you need to get your support to the best.

Click Chat Sold (CCS) supports almost all the browsers, you don’t need any plug-in or java applets.

You can get a free trial for 10 days. There are many more features in click chat sold.

By the way, what other software are taking space in your mind? If you want to share your view.

I'd say LivePerson its pretty good. It manage all customer interactions with live chat, click-to-talk, email management and FAQ/knowledgebase solutions.

I like PHPlive it's a good program with a fair feature set for a reasonable price. It allows you to have real-time chat communication with the customers and visitors of your site.

I think CCS as mentioned by others is a good deal but Kayako has an advantage of the ticket support system,so according to me you can go with any of these. The ticket support software of Kayako is also very user friendly so it should not create much hassles for anyone.
