Default Here's a funny thing!

This is very strange, maybe someone can shed some light on this.

I have a simple cms 'test site' that i created some time ago. Anyway this site has a few images. Funny thing is that once a week i have to re-upload all the images because they keep dissapearing from the server!

I upload them, then test the site for a couple of days and all is ok. next time I look all the images are missing from the imag directory.

This is the site, and as you can see........ no images.

Thumbs up Hi

Hello,

We have found out that you have set 777 permissions to "images" folder, also checked the logs and no malicious scripts is running on your VPS, so that is the only possibility we found.

Setting up 777 (full read, write and execute to everyone) is a security risk and is not recommended, you should set 644 for files and 755 for directories.

Please change the permissions for now and get back to us if the problem still persists.

---------------
Regards,
Sebastian
VPS Team

thx Sebastian, but i need the permissions set as they are as it is a cms so a client needs to be able to read/write.ex, although thinking about it, I suppose i could use php to set the permissions as and when a file is uploaded.

BUT...it still doesn't explain why these images keep dissappearing! The other sites on the cms are fine! Wonder if it is an ownership issue?......no idea really, just find it very strange.

Anyway, will upload them again tomorrow and see if they disappear again.

thx

jon

Hi Jon,

Domlogs get recycled every 24 hours, so it becomes difficult for us to track such problems if you are late in informing us. Please contact one of our livechat support staff members as soon as you see such problem again.

Now we know you are actually JOHN who owns this company why are you asking questions that SURELY you should already know the answers to.

Your credibility has plummeted and the whole of this forum now is suspect as we don't know who is genuine and who is a stooge.

Please don't use such words for Jon. We respect him as a senior forum member and he has nothing to do with John.

You are creating more problems for your health due to such attitude. Do you really need to treat people in such a way to leave your mark before you go ?

If a free Dedicated Server can help you to make your life peaceful, then let me know. I will answer my team members if they question, but I don't want you to accuse our company for unjustified reason. We've built this company to offer good service to customers all over the world. We have never done anything to trouble our customers.

BTW Bribery doesn't work with me. I am a fair person and have given credit where credit due. All I want is my hosting to work without giving me a headache. My other hosting very, very rarely gives me any problems - and if there is a problem it is sorted very quickly with one email not hundreds. That is all I want - a hassle free life. If you lot didn't keep doing things to antagonise me then I would not need to come on here so often.

And where exactly am I going? Are you going to ban me again? Or perhaps delete my sites? Do you really need to treat people in such a way?

I offered a Dedicated Server to you as we won't make any changes on your dedicated server and you won't need to contact us once you have a Dedicated Server. You can't expect us to keep our shared servers fully dedicated for you.

I'm ready to issue double refund for last 2 years if you wish to move your remaining 2 websites away from our servers. This daily trouble has started demotivating some of our guys as we don't know what have we done to make your life so miserable.

I can also account for the difference between Jon and John, I don't see why you could jump to such an extensive conclusion Cassie?

I'm the good looking one!

ere Cassie! Afraid i don't have any aliases on this forum, or indeed any other. I certainly don't own any web hosting business either, wish I did. You only need to click on my link at the bottom and then search to find out that I am merely just a client of webhostinguk, and live in that same county.

Anyway....thought we were soul mates? I'm devastated that you think I am John. I've seen him driving his pink porche slowly in the red light districts, and that isn't me! A good book and a cup of cocoa is what I do in the evenings.

I can only go by what John has stated on this forum - that he is Jon123. I can't help it if he is not.
