I have had issues for over 6 months with my business level VPS
For much of the time the pages are rendered in a reasonable time but on a daily basis I get times when the pages take about six seconds to load maybe a bit more sometimes. This can last for a few minutes and then return to normal and gives the impression of being a very slow site. This is separate from the longer delays experienced late at night which can be 10 seconds plus. Does anyone else experience intermittent delays like this and is the answer to get a dedicated or semi dedicated server? I had thought that there should always be processing power available in a VPS but it seems as if the page request is being delayed by something as my ssh top command shows no processing at all while the delay is being experienced |

Hi, I think that if it is indeed a server issue then you need to speak to support to get it sorted.
You shouldn't need to get a semi or dedi just because of load times. If your vps is ok, then it is someone who is 'hogging' the resources and support will sort this problem. As far as slow response times late in the evening, I seem to remember I had this problem some time back and it was the cpanel updates that were the root of the problem.

There does not seem to be any pattern to the delays in the pages loading.
I have a couple of site not doing much on the server at the moment and am hesitant to place more sites on there until I stop getting these delays One minute it can be fine then the next it can have page load delays of 6 - 8 seconds This morning the delays were 8 seconds at around 8.30 |

Ask support to take a look. If they can't find anything wrong and you still have the same problem then ask them if they would move you to a differnet server.
It may also be best to gather some intel. You can download winmtr or something similar, which will ping the ip continually and show you hopefully where the slow response is originating from.

Please make it convenient to submit a ticket for our VPS Department. I will ask them to migrate your VPS on one of our new E5420 node as our new E5420's are much better than the old Q6600's

I have a ticket now, support tell me they are waiting for shipment of the new nodes
Why does the vPS I am on not have processing power available all the time as my server is doing nothing a lot of the time but when required to has these delays I had thought a VPS had guaranteed amount of CPU and memory My CPU when the delays occur is less than 7% and memory usage minimal Last edited by chique; 08-29-2008 at 05:20 PM. |

Those results displayed in VZPP are innacurate.

Dual CPU Quad Core Intel Xeon E5420 is a typical high performance CPU which has been perfect match for our VPS node demands.

Well !!! I have migrated all my accounts to a new VPS and fingers crossed have not had any page delays, and it does seem a lot faster loading the WHM
I have to say that the support department here is nothing short of excellent!! I had a couple of issues migrating that were resolved in super quick time and late last night at that. If the server continues to perform then I will look at getting another VPS and get rid of the dedicated server at easyspace. Last edited by chique; 08-31-2008 at 01:14 PM. |
