Shoutcast Server is a streaming technology.This technology allows even analog modem connections to stream audio over internet.

SHOUTcast is also used for playing synchronized music in different rooms at parties. A broadcast can be set up from one computer. Other computers will become listners. The other computers will be synchronized with one another. The broadcasting computer, however, would be ahead by one or two seconds.
