Angry Cant see sites via virgin but BT is ok?

Hi alll

I am haviung this problem and ive emailed the tech support but i want opinions from here to

-----------------------

Hi
When I visit any of the websites on my VPs using my Virgin Media ISP I cannot see the websites ( I have also checked it on a few friends PC's and its the same using virgin) but when I connect via my BT connection I have no problem and I can see all sites..

I would have thought this was down to my ISP but heres the thing.

When I visit lets say stealer.org.UK or any other site hosted on my VPS, I don't see it at all using my virgin connection and I am using the nameservers provided by you, I get a server not found error.

When I visit vps.we-w3c.org/~stealer I do see the websites using my virgin connection (also I see them on friends PC's) so it would make sense that the IP of my VPS is not banned by virgin as was suggested by support operator Alan V.

This is the same with all websites hosted on my VPS. I have pinged the sites and they do not respond but I can ping my vps using

Vps.we-w3c.org

This issue just happened today, everything was fine until this morning.

Also when I was talking to the support guy on the phone form virgin he was able to see my sites.

I have had a few phone calls today from my clients telling me that they cant see their sites or get into email accounts. They are using virgin too.. I phoned another couple of clients who I know use BT and they where all happy as they can see their sites.

Please help!!

Thanks

Barry Mitchell

Hello Barry,

Our DNS server had some problem which has been sorted now. Your website should start working now as the problem has been fixed.

I would suggest you to setup 2 private nameservers on one of your domain as you wont need to rely on our nameservers in future.

This appears to be a similar problem to mine Barry....
I am using your nameservers too Adminstrator....

I can see sites on my VPS but when I ping the nameservers I get 'host not found'
I too am on Virgin....I contacted them...got similar reply to you...all appears well from their end.
I can get a response by pinging sites but NOT the nameservers.

Ive rebooted my modem, router, used command prompt to flush dns..you name it, Ive done it...nothing makes a difference.

Happily your problem is solved Im glad to see whereas mine is still the same as it was yesterday.

Oh and just JFI I have a client who cant see her sites, I can, she is in Netherlands, I am UK so the ISP issue wouldnt apply in my case.

I also have a friend in USA who cant see my site either.....

We can troubleshoot such Networking problems only if you send traceroute logs. Our Networking people dont disturb any settings unless they see traceroute.

traceroute helps them to figure out traffic path and they can contact respective ISP to get the problem sorted.
