Default VPS Question.....

Afternoon....
I have a VPS here....its running very well apart from one issue that arose yesterday....

I have a client having trouble viewing her sites...but I can view them just fine.
Ive tried pinging the sites...that comes back ok...but when i ping the nameservers ....I get cannot find host
I went to Live Chat and they say its a local ISP intermittent fault....
Now thats strange...I am in UK...while my client is Netherlands....and she gets exactly the same results as me on ping.

Is this possible??? I would not have thought so but I could be wrong.
How can a local ISP interfere with the nameservers on my VPS???

If anyone has any answers I would be more than grateful.

MaryT

**Update**

Just thought Id let you know Administrator...I just emailed 2 of my clients that use their domain email....
I had both emails returned with delay notice...

Technical details of temporary failure:
TEMP_FAILURE: DNS Error: Timeout while contacting DNS servers

Thought this might be useful

Thank you Administrator....
I have emailed my customer and I probably will not get a reply until tomorrow now....she is 1 hour ahead of us
I did a ping on the nameservers again...I am still getting this response...

Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]
(C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp.

C:\Documents and Settings\Mary>ping ns744.ukserverhosting.net
Ping request could not find host ns744.ukserverhosting.net. Please check the name and try again.

C:\Documents and Settings\Mary>ping ns745.ukserverhosting.net
Ping request could not find host ns745.ukserverhosting.net. Please check the name and try again.
But maybe it needs time to refresh??

Mary

Hello Mary,

Please run this command before you execute ping command :-

ipconfig /flushdns

This command will clear DNS cache of your local machine and you will get response to ping query once you flush dns cache of your local machine.

Already did that yesterday Max
As you see Administrator handled this and the situation appears to have been resolved, from their end, but not mine

Yes I understand about the propagation...thanks Dan but I wouldnt have thought that was in the case ib this issue...but heck DNS and the web can act up sometimes...lol
But it seems my clients issue has been resolved...she replied this morning saying she can now view her sites....
I still have the problem with the ping on the nameservers but maybe it will right itself...lol
But Im not going to worry about it unless another problem crops up
If its not broken, leave well alone is my motto...lol
Thanks for all the input guys...I appreciate it

MaryT
