Linux for Server Platform and Windows for Desktop.

Linux is more popular for server platforms as it is more secure against Virus and Trojans. There are many other things to differentiate both which you can find from http://blog.webhosting.uk.com

Well since most pcs' ship with windows per-installed, it is a simple question to answer. Or is there one of those hidden meanings behind the question? I am going to have a stab in the dark and say Velux are the best imho. Some of those skylight are amazing.

Perhaps the question was meant to be which is the most popular OS among people on this forum?

perhaps that's why Krakov wants to change OS - maybe his only works once per month?

Hey Krakov (just if you happen to check this thread again) I guess Windows is a more popular OS and I personally use windows just because of its usability and functionality.

yeah, for desktop use go with windows and if you are looking at server management you can go with Linux
Linux is most preferred OS for all high configuration servers.

When you say server you presumably mean Web server? I don't know many businesses, particularly SMEs, using Linux servers. Windows Server 2003 rules the roost here.

I think Linux is more popular because it's free and it's easy-to-use.

I went with a host offering Linux. Reasons are simple: it's cheap, stable, secure.
