Default Slow Server at around Midnight

I seem to be experiencing what appears to be a very slow response time which seems to be around midight

Throughout the day it seems fine and then from 12.00 midight till about 1.00 it is extremely slow with some pages timing out

I have moved from obe VPS to another and still have had this problem

Does anyone else have this kind of problem or any ideas what this could be as it is lighting fast all through the day

I experience cpanel, webmail and phpadmin quite slow after 9pm, although websites are ok.
I have to use those above during the day if i want to make any multiple changes, especially in cpanel.

It may be issues on the node, Backups being taken, Maintenance occuring ect ect.. There are many issues but only Andrew, James or Nick can give the correct one.

This must be due to Rsync backup. I need to know IP address of your VPS as I can request our VPS Team to run backups after 2 AM. We have configured daily as well as weekly backups for all our vps nodes but the time must be wrong in cron settings.

Can you check mine as well admin? I have always had this problem but it used to timeout until you put me on the virtuozzo which stops the timeouts and made it slightly quicker, but it is still difficult to use especially cpanel and phpmyadmin after 9 -9.30pm every night.

thx

Yep. I have our VPS team looking into it.

They are going through backup configuration for all nodes and they will make necessary changes accordingly. I will keep you informed.

I have been moved from one server already and asked that the backup be done later on the first server, but this I do not think was done so it was suggested that I move to a new VPS, on which I had serious timeouts last night on very basic php web pages.

I have been told

It is a rogue VPS
Backups
VPS needs tweaking

At the end of the day many of us are running businesses on these servers and cannot be worrying about them all the time.

I have fourty or more sites on different servers one of which is dedicated and I really need the sites to just run smoothly otherwise I get hassle.

The delay is better tonight and is a maximum of 10 seconds for loading a page at the moment (this has bee up to 40 seconds/complete timeout) during the day it takes less than a second to render the same page [EDIT - It is now taking up to 20 seconds]

My IP will be under this ticket HPW-81253-886

Your VPS was running short of Memory and I suggested few things to our VPS team to get this problem sorted.

Your domain was under propagation and thats the only reason you had problems. Our VPS team has mentioned that everything has got sorted now and there was absolutely no load on the main node.

Thanks for the response

DNS seems to have a funny way of behaving then

All day yesterday the site was fine and then around 11.30 last night it started to experience problems.

This is exactly the issue I had with the previous server, I will monitor tonight and see how it goes.

Any particular reason for this at my end? script, etc?
Cos there isn't that much on the vps to be honest, yes a few avarage sites but nothing that gets a bandwidth beating...sob..sob

My VPS had a similar problem and i had a few issues with your support team which is why i didn't want to pay. I didn't host alot of things on there only websites but your support team insisted that it was ME that was causing the problem and they had to shut my VPS down if i didn't upgrade.. so i didn't upgrade and thats why i'm not a customer anymore

There's not much that can be done when Virtuozzo starts giving those errors. One has to upgrade Memory on respective VPS if you get that error. Certain running processes get loaded in RAM and they never come out due to which the memory usage goes on increasing with uptime of your vps. Try to keep your local computer online for a week and see how it performs. Windows OS is worst in terms of memory management but Linux also has got this memory clogging issues which gets fixed after reboot.

Recently we got some super high configuration servers to avoid this problems. Now we have 8 GB RAM on our new nodes and the CPU is "Core 2 Duo Quad Core Xeon Q6600, 8 MB cache". Core 2 duo technology allows it to handle overclocking without causing any CPU load and it uses 4 cores of 2.4 GHz which makes this new nodes far better than the previous x3210 nodes.

Upgrading hardware of servers is always good and we always keep on adding servers with latest hardware configuration to meet demand of our customers.

It's 12.16 and the server has been fine all day, having just checked it is giving response times of 20-30 seconds, this is long enough for any vistor to leave.

The concern is that if this is not resolvable or noticed, is it actually happening at other times of the day when something else is running and drawing on resources.

I think for me now DNS is not an issue and something else is causing the poor response times

[EDIT 12.33 occasionaly taking 40 second now]

In the ten years I have been working with webservers I have never had response times like this and this is with some prettty low spec systems
