Default Changing server details

How difficult is it to change nameservers and vps server name on a vps?

At present I share a vps with a partner but he maybe moving his domains to another provider. He doesn't have any problems here just offered another partnership elsewhere.

My problem stems from the fact that our nameservers, server name and domain used to create the vps belongs to him so would take that with him.

Would it be a huge problem to change the domain and everything else, plus any downtime issues?
thx
Jon

It wont take more than 2 minutes for us to change the hostname of your VPS. Nameservers can be changed from your end using WHM but you may find it lil inconvenient so simply open a ticket for our VPS team or come on livechat and get it done from them.

Hostname change has to be done from the node so it has to be done by the VPS Team.

no downtime. Your domains are already resolving from your VPS so there wont be any sort of DNS propagation downtime.

Domains will take 24 - 48 hours to resolve prior to you setting the nameservers. If you wish to avoid loosing clients websites during this time what i suggest you do is purchase a new domain, set the nameservers up.. email all of your clients informing them of this change and around a week later release the domain so that your ex-business partner can take it with him/her.

I hope this helped

But the nameservers at present are ns1.ttsmedia.com, ns2.......
With ttsmedia moving to another server doesn't that mean the nameserver 'names' must change and therefore downtime?

You should get your new nameservers registered before moving ttsmedia away. Also make sure that all your domains are pointed to new nameservers within 12 hours of registration of new nameservers.

No matter if your partner moves ttsmedia away on another server but the IPs of ns1.ttsmedia.com and ns2.ttsmedia.com will continue to point to your VPS until and unless he changes the IPs from networksolutions.

Best option is to get this nameservers change done ASAP before he moves his domain. You have my assurance that you wont have any downtime no matter what the situation would be.

there's nothing so confusing in this thread. Simply get 2 new nameservers from our VPS team on one of our anonymous domains and then request your customers to point their domains to those nameservers. I am afraid about the fact that your partner may change the nameserver IPs so you will face downtime if you delay this matter.

thanks i will do that but will purchase a new domain first rather than use yours, I appreciate the offer of using yours but need another domain anyhow. My associate won't move his domains without giving me notice....mainly because he can't, he has no access to whm OR amenworld where the domain is registered

As Andrew said, it's all good for now. Just get it done asap to avoid making your associate hesitate
