Even if you do disable right click on images, it could be a big turn off for your site's visitors. Even with right click disabled, one can still highlight the image and select copy from the menu bar anyway, so is not much of a deterrant.

Anyone who knows what they're doing is going to just pull your image from their browser cache anyway so it doesn't matter what client-side obstacles you put in their way.

I agree with Kev, if they want the image there is nothing you can do to stop it. Print screen captures any image visible in the browser. (except flash)
That said, you can deter many people by watermarking or something I use all the time: Create a transparent image same size as your image, overlay the image with your transparency. When they right click and copy your image, all they get is a blank image. Last edited by jon123; 01-26-2007 at 09:06 PM. Reason: none |

Watermarks are a very sensible approach although I think there's an argument for saying that if you are prepared to upload something to the Web then you should just accept that others can use it.

i don't really like the idea of disabling right click. as a webdesigner, i find it too immmature. i mean, if these images are really not allowed to be posted anyway due to copyright issues, then why not place a text on the image with the company name or something. or do watermark. Makes me think that the owner is too paranoid.
