Idea for live chat in blog

If you have blog you are surely putting links there "Digg this”, “ del.icio.us”, "furl" etc and “Add Comment" how it will be if you put " "live chat about this"” ? so that the users can go automatically to a chat room and chat about your blog post with themselves.

Well Paul, I think your idea seems to be too imaginative. Assuming that you add a live chat option below your blog post and if a reader clicks on live chat and moves on to the chat room to chat about that particular topic with others, he should be able to find a few other people interested to chat about that topic there. For this particular purpose the blog needs to be highly popular and requires a consistent flow of traffic.

It seems quite a difficult proposition to me...how would you be able to streamline the chatrooms according to the topic of interest? Would you create a central chatroom for all or a separate chatroom for every topic?

Moreover, as mentioned above the blog needs to have a steady flow of traffic for the users to find other users to interact on a particular topic.

As a author of article you should also be online in the chat room, visitors may want to discuss with you also.

Imagination is not bad at all, it gives birth to reality, wonder. Not a bad idea Paul, only a question arises, have you thought about the implementation? I know it seems difficult as peter explained, not impossible though. May be you will need to do some more research on this, taking the suggested (in a positive term) points into consideration.

I quite like this idea Paul and pretty easy to put into practice. You'd need quite a few visitors to make it viable though - unless you can be there 24 hours a day. You'd need to be prepared for trolls as well if you're going to be posting anything controversial.

Though I dont think my idea is new but all your comments encouraged me to add chat in my blog, I think javascript & Ajax jabber based script would do that.

That seems to be a fantastic idea. I haven't seen such an option on any blog yet and if you wish to do that on your blog definitely it will be a plus point for your blog.It is always good to try out few different things.

I like your idea paul, like others I don't think its that difficult to implement; this chatbox would be an additional feature in your blog and it would help you to keep your members/visitors binded together and theres no need for you to be online 24hours in your absence your blog moderators should be online to do the job and yeah JavaScript and Ajax jabber based script are quite helpful; once you are done with the blog you can give the updates here in this thread.

Yea it seems to be a good idea to me too as I think people from different places around the world can chat and discuss on the same topic and it would be very helpful in sharing new ideas and checking out various views in multiple aspects. Though there are many pointers to be taken into consideration before making it work online and it is not the idea which cannot be applied. It will be something new and different for the users apart from the stuff which is normally seen online.
Anyways, ATB Paul and hope to see it working soon.
