I've used that site several times before. very neat. Even gives you a text file with the exact code you need to add to get it to work.

I have used it once, long before. The site is really helpful, it gives all the procedure to set the favicon. Later I forgot the link to the site, thaks for reminding me again. However now I create icons myself by some icon creating programs.

It is Articons aha-soft.com/articons/ . However the software is not freeware.
There are some good freewares icon editor like
SC Icon editor softwareclub.ws/icon_editor.html
IcoFX icofx.xhost.ro/

Just create icon and rename as favicon.ico and save to your site's root path.

Hope you will find these useful

One of the greatest advantage I see with favicon that your site will get notice easily in bookmarks.

Animated favicons are even more attractive and can work as your identity in browser with multiple tab's.

Really animated favicons are very easy to create
Just create an animated gif ( 16*16) using program like Photoshop or something like that and rename it to favicon.ico and Upload this new animated favicon to your web site root folder.

You may find these site helpful which will help you to create your animated favicons : html-kit.com/favicon/

One of the first thing I did when I created all my websites was to create a favicon - usually just something simple like the initials of the site - even something simple like that can make your site stand out. But Animated favicons? I have not seen any site using one - any examples? I can imagine they might get a bit annoying in the corner of your eye.

Cassie, I think such animated favicons may not be irritating for all
Sites related to Animation-Graphics-Video's may use such favicons to attract visitors and distinguish their site.

Just Google "animated favicons" you will get many sites using such animated favicons such as funlinksdaily.com, pipa.ws, pod1.com, cleverwasteoftime.com

I tried anim-favicons before, but they are extremely difficult to work on. 16 by 16 is way to small for anything animated imo.

BTW, when I created mine a while back I used a photoshop plugin.

Yeah, 16x16 is quite small area for viewing any animation properly but i think having some relevant image which can help to standout our site in browser would be great rather then having default blankpage icon before our domainname in browser.
