any script to create captcha like image from a text.

Can any one tell me any free script or function by which I can create a captcha like distorted image from a text input. I want it to include it in my contact and user registration form.

For my sites I use a free CAPTCH package that is under GNU General Public License.

I've made a few tweaks to mine, to change colours as well as various other options.

So far its worked perfectly but remember it has no kind of warrenty.

Yes, this one is really good.
I have made modification like, random font selection, random rotation of charaters, random color characters and background noise.
