Is it necessary to hire a VPS for a social networking website ?

I am soon pushing a social networking website , confused with the hosting.
Some said you should hire VPS , some suggested dedicated servers, some said unlimited web hosting plans will be enough.

I am little bit confused.

please help me

Well, it all depends on traffic you are expecting for your community website. Since it's a new launch you can start with a VPS which can be upgraded later for a Cloud/dedicated server.

It is suggested to go with a dedicated server. On a VPS you cannot have enough RAM. Sonner or later you will have to migrate the website to a dedicated server. It better to start with a basic dedicated servers where you can customize things according to your websites requirements.

As suggested you can start with a dedicated server. If not atleast a semi-dedicated server. VPS memory is generally not found enough for Social networking websites.

Social networking sites are very popular nowadays & can generate a good amount of traffic. I will recommend a dedicated server to host a Social networking site.
