Magento Installation problem

Hi,

Has anyone successfully setup a magento intallation on a VPS server. Everytime I do I get to the installation step where I put in the DB details then it returns the error about too many redirects.

I've tried both a clean full installation and also using the magento installer method.

It's driving me crazy. Please help!!!

I fixed it. I found a guide which I followed but can't post it yet as I the bulletin board ruls require me to submit 5 posts before giving the URL

Anyway what I did differently when following this was:

• Not install the sample data
• skip the base URL check
• checked the mod_rewrite option
