CPanel WHM VPS optimisation

No doubt many of you with VPS will have received this from Cpanel. I think its really good news and a great progression. Personally I wont be adding it to my upgrades yet, but has anyone got a test server to try the EDGE version on?

cPanel VPS Optimized is a new version of cPanel / WHM specifically designed to run on Virtual Private Servers. cPanel VPS Optimized provides the feature rich functionality of cPanel / WHM while reducing memory usage by up to 60% on VPS instances.

cPanel VPS Optimized represents a great step forward for cPanel customers. The reduction in memory usage for each install allows web hosts the ability to host more domains per virtual machine. This increase enables hosts to provide a more efficient and eco-friendly server base with fewer physical machines.

The upgrade to cPanel VPS optimized will require no interaction. Once cPanel VPS Optimized has reached the build tree on your server, automatic updates ( or manual) will upgrade the current cPanel / WHM installation to a cPanel VPS Optimized installation. cPanel VPS Optimized is currently only in EDGE builds.

We have tested new cPanel VPS Optimized on couple of our cPanel test VPS's and there seems to be huge difference in memory usage. RAM is the most important thing on VPS's and cPanel seems to have given best possible solution to all VPS web hosting providers.

I won't suggest you to upgrade your cpanel version as of now as cPanel will need some time to bring the new version in release / stable tree.

I thougt that those who run VPS, would find this interesting. VPS optimised has now moved to a CURRENT release which means it is now in a supported state.

wow huge difference. I think I may upgrade later, after i have switched my hostname and nameservers that is!

so far there has been no complaints about the new cPanel VPS Optimized. Many customers have reported major performance improvement with the new cPanel VPS Optimized. cPanel uses 50% of RAM for some memory intensive logs which have been dropped in the cPanel VPS Optimized version. Dedicated Servers can afford to maintain all those logs, but VPS's don't need such memory intensive logs and cPanel has simply dropped those in the new release of cPanel VPS Optimized.

There's nothing else that changes with the new version of this control panel.
