Microsoft to promote linux

Microsoft Corp. and Novell Inc have entered into an agreement that would allow the open-source Linux softwares to work with Microsoft's Windows software.

Well you never know what marketing strategies these big Firms will come up with. I never thought that a day will come when Microsoft will promote Linux. Quite surprising! Bottom line is nothing but "Embrace and Extend"

One thing gets clear over here - Microsoft has accepted Linux as an important part of the IT infrastructure.
And it is not only about open-source Linux softwares to work with Microsoft's Windows software but vice-versa.
As per now it seems that customers are going to be benefited by this.

Novell has also secured an irreversible assurance from Microsoft to allow all individual and non-commercial contributors
the liberty to continue open source development, free from any anxiety of Microsoft patent lawsuits.

I think microsoft is rewriting their strategy, probably this would be a step to protect their intellectual property.
