France's defence ministry said today a secret service report saying Osama bin Laden, the Al-Qaeda leader, had died could not be confirmed but said it would launch an inquiry into the leak of secret documents.

"The information published this morning in the L'Est Republicain newspaper relating to the supposed death of Osama bin Laden cannot be confirmed," the defence ministry said in a statement.

Almost impossible to prove even if he was dead I'd imagine. Anything short of a corpse and a DNA test is going to be uncertain. I don't think I'd class dying of Typhoid is some God forsaken crap-hole in Pakistan an easy death though.

Osama may die but his siblings have spread all over the world. There are many other Osama's living all over the world and one can never predict when he would initiate next bombbings. Maybe you or maybe I'll be a victim of his next attack.

US gave birth to Osama in late 80's at the time of Afghan and Russia war. Russia could never become a danger for any other country in the world but politics gave birth to Taliban and now we have our lives in danger.

Will anyone clear this messup or we have to pay with our lives ?

I'm just surprised this hasn't become a global news acticle.
I don't know whether he is dead or not but the news just said that he had a disease.

Osama Bin Laden is dead was just a rumor and nothing else. According to Taliban, he is still alive and in good health. More details here

If he is dead, I'm sure he will have a deputy to step in.

George Bush said on 22nd Sept as reported on CNN, he would order U.S. forces to go after Osama bin Laden inside Pakistan if he received good intelligence on the fugitive al Qaeda leader's location, and the very next day the news spread through out the world by French reporter that he is dead, Do you not think Bin Lden is alive and want to declare himself dead? BTW, IMO Capturing him wouldn’t stop terrorism as he is a hero and a villian to millions.

I'm not at all surprised by this news because there will be always someone ready to take his place, al-Qaeda is functioning just fine without him.
End of laden doesn't mean the end of terrorism.

Very True Nik...even if Laden is dead it won't mean the end of Al-Qaeda and World terrorism. It is theorized that the group's operations are not centralized, and many independent and collaborative cells may exist in multiple countries linked by a common cause.
