Default Anti spam measure

Since there were a few spammers
maybe you could make an anti spam measure before you post or something just for the first 10 post or so.
This could hopefully deter spammers from being bothered to post .
Just a thought

Very true...
Spammers don't have patience, they can’t wait till 10 posts so there are less chances of spamming

I dont see any such feature in vbulletin. maybe there is some addon package available to have this feature implemented.

I will do some research work on usergroup permissions.

on the subject of spammers
i believe there was an influx of about 20 threads into the web design section ....
in a matter of 1 hour and 40 mins
some containing like 1-3 line responses the others contain copyright material taken from other sites.

also i found a list of programs for anti spam but i do not know if they would work on vbulletin http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=393503

It's a bit annoying but these are generally people here because of the free domain. They aren't strictly spamming but I'd say it needs pretty tough moderation. The vast majority of the posts could not be considered 'quality' and maybe they just need a PM from a mod to set them straight.

We have had major problems with spammers on our independently hosted forum using Cutecast. We have an option to only allow members to post after they have activated their account by submitting a valid email address.

Most of the spammers didn't use a valid email address so never got activated - I just delete or ban the inactive members from time to time.

I thought it was the same when I joined here but it wasn't - it said you can't post until you activate using the key in the email but I was able to (good job really as I spelt my email address wrong !!).

I have verified settings in Admincp and unregistered members cannot post in any other forum besides pre-sales and registered members cannot post anywhere without email verification.

I will do some more investigation on this and get back to you with what was needed to be done.
