Defragmenting Windows VPS

Hi - can defragmentation for Windows VPS be scheduled?

What recommendations do you have for defraging the drive - Ideally I want something that I do not have to keep checking

Hi Christina, i am afraid, you won't be able to defrag your VPS harddrive as it's a virtual drive for your server,

Hi,

You'd be able to defragment the drives in your VPS without any problems by simply running the standard defragmentation tool inside the container itself in the same way as in a physical server.

That's interesting : Following advice in this forum to keep drives defragged I just did in remote console... seemed fine - considerable reduction in fragmented files

How much of this information is still correct - does it need updating?

Hi Christina !

The post you mentioned says:

2. Defrag your drives.
Disk I/O is king, especially in a VPS and you should be regularly defragging your drives in your VPS just as you would in a physical server.
