Default Long-Tail Keywords - Best strategy?

It's very challenging to place near the top of search results with single keywords or even two-word phrases. However, you can easily place not only near the top, but in first place with keyword phrases that have several words, hence the name "long-tail".

Is anyone else using this strategy? Also, how is it changing the way you develop content?

Yes, sometimes you'll have a higher bounce rate, but that depends on the site and how focused the content is. When people find your site through long-tail keywords, they are finding very specific information. If your site's content is tightly-focused and you have internal links on each page, bounce rate is not as big of an issue.

Along with the long tail keywords, it is also essential to have quality content on the website; so that when people search for your website through the long tail keywords, the bounce rate is reduced.

Traffic that comes from long-tail keyword phrases often give you higher conversion rates. When people use long keyword phrases, they are usually making very detailed searches. So, they are more likely to find what they are looking for when they land on your webpage.

Long tail keywords have less competition as compared to the generic keywords and they are also more specific. Therefore the ads can be customized in a better way in order to match the needs of the searchers. With lower cost per click and higher click through rate, long tail keywords can be extremely profitable.

Longer-tail keywords, or more specific phrases, often get less searches, but have higher conversions because the consumer tends to be looking for exactly what they are going to buy.

I think the long tail now should be added with wonder wheel research keywords and combining it with LSI base unique content.long tail alone is effective, however since the competition is harder and heavier each year you should consider other link building strategy
