Default Google algorithm is very tricky....

The sites are often trapped in sandbox because of number of inbound links which are gained within a short period of time. But what about the websites that receives national news coverage, for example, could acquire hundreds or thousands of links in a day. Will such sites never come out of sandbox or google algorithm is different for such sites?

Hmmmm... I think you are wrong. New sites getting number of inbound links within a short period normally get penalized/banned and not sandboxed.
Whereas if your site is reputed, well established and old enough (ie already indexed by Google) then getting number of inbound links within short period of time will not hurt your site instead if these inbound links are from trusted and relevant sources they would definitely benefit your site's ranking.

I think there is a difference between these two forms of link building. Acquiring hundreds and thousands of links manually for a site in a short span of time would definitely land the site in Sandbox. The algorithm could be different for websites that receive national news coverage as they don't build links manually. The people using those news for their own sites link back to those news sites themselves and maybe thats the reason they are an exception to the Sandbox rule.

I may be wrong so if anybody's has a definitive answer to this thread please go ahead and correct me.
