Well, that depends on the hosting provider you choose.

If you have hosted your website on servers based in the UK, your website has a UK IP address.

Now, if you choose another hosting provider who offers servers based in the UK, the IP address of your website will be a UK based IP address only and hence it won't affect your website rankings severely However, if you choose a hosting provider who offers servers based in the US, your website will be hosted on a US IP address which can definitely affect your website rankings in search engines

Hope this helps...

As long as you are transferring the hosting within the same country, the website rankings should not change. If you are switching from a UK hosting provider to US hosting provider then you will definitely experience some changes in the serps.

Well, I am not sure about your ranking but surely the quality of tech support & server uptime would be hurt if you move away from Webhosting UK

I have achieved a good ranking for most of my targeted keywords as my website is hosted here at Webhosting.uk.com !!

Well, that's correct. obviously if your IP changes it will affect your search results as we know the importance of having a dedicated ip address. Also, changing a web host may make you face server downtime due to which your site performance will get weaken.

One of the reasons your websites will face downtime is the fact that you will need to update the nameservers of your domains if you change your web hosting provider.

Generally, it takes 24-36 for the nameservers to propagate, however, it might be possible that nameservers propagate before or after the estimated time frame.

Changing web hostting shouldn’t have any affect on how a search engine ranks the web site as long as the change is smooth. A small static site with few web pages (under 1,000) is pretty straightforward. Moving a huge site with tens of thousands of pages, multiple servers can affect rankings in Search Engine.

IMO, Your site's SERP won't get affected if the migration is seamless. Unless the robots come across site downtime for a longer period or you make some changes in old data, rankings would remain unchanged to a large extent.

Hope this would help.

Well, even if the change is smooth and the website does not face a lot of downtime, the change in the IP's of the website will definitely affect it's search engine rankings if the website is moved to a hosting provider in another Country.

Just over 12 months ago we moved a .co.uk website to servers in the states, after roughly 6 weeks we dropped from page 1 to page 7 after which we were on page 10, we moved the site back to UK servers and like magic the site went up again, so yes it does depend on where the site is hosted.

Thank you for the information magthered.

This information will definitely help other website owners who are planning to move their website from a server based in the UK to a US based server.

Also, this is a proof that Google does give a lot of importance to the location of the server on which the website is hosted

Most of our sites are .com.au (we are australian) and we are hosted on webhosting uk never actually noticed before if it made a difference.
