Default Pros and cons of SEO and SEM:

Pros and cons of SEO and SEM:

Search Engine marketing (SEM) is an 'instant gratification' advertising media. You can basically set up a Google Adwords campaign in half an hour - and often have your advertisements running within the hour. Try that with newspapers, TV or radio! You don't have to make any changes to your website structure or architecture. You don't have to know how your website is built. And best of all - you only pay when your advertisement is clicked on - not when it is shown.

So whats the downside of SEM? Well - you pay whenever your advertisement is clicked on. You 'Pay Per Click' (PPC) - and will keep paying per click for all your traffic. You'll even pay for clicks by your competitors. The issue of 'click fraud' is a growing problem - and although every major PPC system claims to have ways of detecting click fraud - its out there.

Search Engine Optimisation is a longer term approach, and encompases many 'best practice' web design standards. There are often no payments required to the search engines, as the major search engine spiders (robots) visit your site for free (i.e. GoogleTM, and Yahoo!TM), add it to their index, and rank it for relevancy against mathematical parameters. Good content, targeting well searched phrases, built to the 4 pillars of accessible web design (and built to conform to the published rules) - often win in the search engine rankings.

A holistic website marketing strategy will address both forms of search engine traffic. At Cogentis, we understand both search engine optimisation and search engine marketing - and the implications of accessibility for your human users and search engine spiders. One of the first steps in formulating a website marketing strategy is assessing the implications of your site design, and the technology deployed, to ascertain the options available to you.

Our process is logical and cogent. Through our web-site analysis services, we can ensure that your site is accessible, and hasn't penalised itself in search engines, by its design and technology. Cogentis specialises in internet positioning services and strategies.

Default The Difference between SEO and SEM.

Search Engine Marketing - is a form of Internet marketing that seeks to promote websites by increasing their visibility in search engine result pages (SERPs) through the use of paid placement, contextual advertising, and paid inclusion.

While the Search engine optimization (SEO) "optimizes" website content to achieve a higher ranking in search results, for example, by incorporating specific keywords or links associated with the website. Depending on the context, SEM can be an umbrella term for various means of marketing a website including SEO, or it may contrast with SEO, focusing on just paid components.

Search engine marketing is the short text advertisements that appear at the top or bottom right hand side of the search engine results. They are also known as 'sponsored links' or 'sponsored results'. On the other hand, search engine optimization is defined as a process of building web pages and securing a good search engine ranking for them.

You will have to choose some advertisement programs and pay some amount towards them for search engine marketing. You will have to decide the keywords for which advertisements are to be placed and you can even have some banners of your website on other websites if you can pay the amount demanded for those banners.

Post Re:

Search Engine Marketing is great way to market your company’s products or services to online users in a direct and relevant manner. This can be achieved by bidding on keywords and key terms through Pay Per Click techniques and through Search Engine Optimisation techniques such as meta tags, on page content optimisation and link building. Search engine marketing ensures you are delivering an almost immediate solution to online users that may not have previously known your website existed. The great thing about SEM is that its impact is directly measurable. You will be able to control the amount you spend on PPC campaigns as well as being able to monitor the benefits you receive from the SEO and PPC techniques.

Search Engine Marketing, or SEM for short, is the process of attracting traffic through many of the big search engines like Google and Yahoo. In some respects, SEM is a blend of both SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and PPC (Pay Per Click). SEM can be a huge benefit to your organization if done well, including a positive return on investment, giving your business increased prominence online, a potential to improve lead generation, exposing your distinct brand to customers, and ultimately leading to an increase in sales and revenue.

Through search engine marketing it becomes easier for the people to find the website they are looking for and it also becomes easier for the companies to reach out to the people. Proper search engine marketing provides good exposure to a particular website and thereby increases the search engine rankings. All the search engine marketing strategies are highly effective and should be followed regularly for maintaining good rankings.

Search Engine Optimization(SEO) is the process of improving the visibility of a web site or a web page in search engines via the “natural” or un-paid (“organic” or “algorithmic”) search results using a combination of methods.
Social media optimization is related to search engine marketing, but differs in several ways, primarily the focus on driving traffic from sources other than search engines, though improved search ranking is also a benefit of successful SMO.
