Red face Supplemental Results

Can anyone explain what are 'Supplemental results' in Google? How do I stop my site's pages from showing up as supplemental results?

It's also called " The Kiss of Death", "Google Hell", Supplemental sites are part of Google’s auxiliary index and results that might have due to old Google Caches or may occurs when your site has duplicate content, no content or your site has orphaned web pages. However if you link to any pages that are supplemental results, that would bring them back into the main index.

Supplemental results are generally pages that Google has determined to be secondary to other more relevant pages that Google has indexed on your website.

The best way to avoid supplemental pages is by ensuring that every page within your site uses unique content and provides excellent and relevant information. This way you will have a better chance of having Google determine that your pages are second to none.

It seems that you want to keep the pages but want to hide them from google. Right? If this is the case then you can use ROBOTS tag. By using this you can hide those pages from google to scroll and displayed them in results. Though not all search engines recognize these tags but google does.

Try resubmiting your sitemap to your Google's Sitemap Account. Hope this will help you out.

No, It is about how to bring back the pages to the notice of google for further crawling and indexing.

Will this be a permanent solution ? Because even after linking if google finds it as a duplicate content or other things mentioned by Ryan then they will be out of index or will show them as a supplemental results to purge out slowly.

As I mentioned above, one way to avoid supplemental pages is by ensuring that every page within your site uses unique content and provides excellent and relevant information. If every page of the site has unique content, then linking to those pages that are supplementary would infact help bring them back into the main index.

Apart from unique content, quality link building would also help.
