In order to get your site indexed in Google quickly, you'll need to have atleast one link to your site from another site already listed in Google.

Peter- interesting thought! racheal, submit manually the URL of the external page that contains the link to your website; google.com/addurl I think google is slow on indexing new site now, hence you should wait after submission.

The quickest way to get listed site listed in Google is to get a link to your site from a site already indexed by Google. The next best option would be to submit your URL to Google and wait. Doing a Google Sitemap would also help to some extent.
