Is that really true so basically backlinks is like putting your site in high ranked and i wonder how you get your site into a PR

Yep. Backlinks define popularity of your website. Search engines come to know how popular your website is and how much your website is discussed on the web.

Websites like Microsoft and Redhat are discussed on different websites so they get Lacs of backliinks and that gives them high PR.
