If i were to take a shared cpanel linux hosting package,

Does the domain itself have to come over?
Do i have to move my domains dns servers over to yourself?
Or can i just create a new A record pointing to a generic external ip?

to our forums and its good to hear that you are interested in our cPanel Shared plans

If you want to run your website and access emails from our server, then you will have to point the nameservers to our Shared server. If you just wish to host the website and want to keep emails with another provider, in that case you can point A record to our server.

Nameservers/A record details will be provided in the welcome email once your package is active.

Sorry for the late reply, I'll be using the basic package to being with as i've no idea on the sites bandwidth usage. Fortunately I believe you allow upgrades at any time.

Indeed, you can upgrade the hosting package at any point of time. It's an easy and instant upgrade. There won't be any downtime nor any data loss in the package upgrade procedure.
