Default Appropriate web hosting plan

I am the owner of a video lesson website. Earlier I hosted my website with a web hosting company and I was quite satisfactory with the service in little investment. They promised an unlimited bandwidth, however now I don believe in this concept because I have been facing some issues. My videos are primarily non streaming flash. My website is providing with satisfactory videos all over the world. As the viewer count increases, I am really concerned about the overloads and expansion.

I have a strong opinion about changing the web hosting company now and I would also like to know if it is practical to host my website on the cloud hosting platform? The main factors I am concerned about are the availability of bandwidth as my website expands and I also expect a good uptime even with the overload. Can you please recommend an appropriate hosting platform that is affordable and efficient?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Steffee,

I would firstly clear you on the unlimited bandwidth part. Providing unlimited resources is practically not possible. The companies who claim that they offer unlimited resources probably use the word 'unlimited' to attract prospects any convert them into customers. Its just a marketing stratergy and they do have hidden restrictions in the resources that they offer.
Considering your requirements, you can opt for a cloud server to start with. Cloud will offer you individual scalability of features like RAM, CPU, Bandwidth whenever you require it.
If you could please confirm the hosting platform, the resources that you are looking to opt for, I can suggest you the most appropriate package accordingly.

Cloud hosting platform seems to be a good option. However I have also heard about dedicated hosting, as I am looking forward to expand my business in the future, I want a hosting platform that is fully equipped for the same.

You will be able to upgrade your Cloud Server at any point of time if your requirements increase in future and hence resources with the Cloud Server is not a problem, however, if you are looking forward to have more bandwidth and enough disk space for future, a Dedicated Server would be a cost effective solution and the fact that the entire hardware will be dedicated to you which is the best benefit cannot be ignored so a Dedicated Server can also prove to be the best solution for you.

I would like to opt for a dedicated hosting plan. I am looking for a 3000 GB bandwidth with a Windows operating system, can I have more information on the dedicated hosting platform?

All our Dedicated servers have 3000 GB as standard. Please check the below link for more details and select a server according to your requirements and budget.

In case you require more bandwidth in future you can upgrade the bandwidth from 3000 to 5000, 7000, 10000 by paying applicable charges. As you are preferring to opt for a Windows platform you will be charged additional for the OS license.

I also suggest to go with cloud hosting rather than dedicated hosting. A friend of mine had a similar problem with his video site, switching to cloud hosting with a bandwidth of 5000 made his site stable.

I agree. It is important to have your own server when it comes to video/audio websites. You may see spikes in usages at anytime on these websites. It is better to have some resources free on the server. Bandwidth is the key factor when considering servers for such websites. On a dedicated server you can upgrade bandwidth to next higher levels.
