Default vBulletin forum

We have a vBulletin forum which is growing quickly from the last 2 weeks. Around 150-250 visitors view the forums at the same time. The forum brings no income to me at all, I would like to continue with the shared plan however , it has become slow due to the increasing traffic. I don't want people leaving my forums. Do you suggest I upgrade my shared hosting plan to a VPS or is it OK to stay on the shared plan ? Regards Stephen.

If the forum has become slow you have no option but to move away from shared hosting. Your site has outgrown and you now need to upgrade to a VPS or may be a semi-dedicated or a cloud. If you choose a VPS make sure you have enough RAM with it. A semi-dedi server or a cloud server would be much better much for your website.

A Cloud server would be an ideal solution for your needs. It would allow you to upgrade the configuration at any point of time if your requirements increase in future. Individual resources of the server can be upgraded which is not possible with the VPSs. Moreover, Cloud servers are setup on a Cloud i.e. a cluster of servers. Hence, they offer 100% uptime guarantee.

We have vbulletin running on a shared server. However this website is not very popular. If you have a popular vbulletin based website I will recommend the highest vps plan or the semi-dedicated server.

With that sort of 'foot fall' you could get a reasonable income from simple google ads on the forum.

Right, if you are getting decent traffic to your forum you can simply put Google Ads or can also sell banner sapce so that you can have some revenue to keep the forum running.
