Default Cloud hosting basics

I am considering using your VM-Ware Cloud hosting, but have a few
questions which I hope you can guide me with.

1.I will use this to host a Wordpress site and one ecommerce based website. Is it ok to host these websites?

2. How will I manage the cloud server? Do have any guidance on how this is done?

3. I read somewhere that the data/settings are not permanently held on cloud? So that cloud is only suitable for very short term use. Is that true? Will I have to change this each time?

thanks!

Welcome to the forums

Here are the answers:

1.I will use this to host a Wordpress site and one ecommerce based website. Is it ok to host these websites?
- Yes, it is absolutely fine to host wordpress and e-commerce based websites on cloud servers.

2. How will I manage the cloud server? Do have any guidance on how this is done?
- These servers are managed by us at no extra cost.

3. I read somewhere that the data/settings are not permanently held on cloud? So that cloud is only suitable for very short term use. Is that true? Will I have to change this each time?
- Not true. As long as the server is active and running, everything will run as it is.

Feel free to post for any further questions.

Cloud server hosting environment makes use of a number of physical servers in a cluster to ensure that there will always be at least one server available to cope up with the load on the cluster or to replace a crashed server, thus offering 100% uptime. Cloud hosting provides with dedicated resources such as CPU and RAM, also individual resources on it are scalable

Yes, you can consider our cloud hosting for hosting Wordpress site and one ecommerce based website. Our cloud servers does not rely on one physical server, if a server fails due to any issue your websites will not face any downtime.
All our servers are fully managed and are monitored round the clock.

Thanks for the prompt replies.

@rachel for the 3rd question, it's a relief then! Does that mean all the settings remain
active as long as I subscribe to the service?

Also I require the service to host my dns settings. I would need to edit DNS settings like a sub-domain points to a different server IP.

Can I have more than 2 GB RAM? I don't really need this for now but just need to make sure it is possible in future.

- Yes, that's right.

- You can choose a control panel from the order page which allows you to manage the hosting account. You have complete root access to the control panel and you can make any DNS changes that you want.

- Yes, you can. Once your server is set you can contact the billing dept. and have them upgrade the cloud server resources.

Yes I will chose the control panel with the server. The control panel installation will be done by you I believe ?

Okay if the RAM can be upgraded later than that's good.

I am thinking for more questions though

Yes, we will install the control panel on the server for you. However, as it will be a third party application, you will need to pay additional charges for the License.

Our technical support department will install the control panel you choose with the Cloud server and you will get support for it as well but you need to make sure that you choose a control panel which is suitable for you. If you choose a Linux Cloud server, you should choose cPanel/WHM control panel (recommended) but if you choose a Windows Cloud server, you should choose Plesk control panel.

In terms of efficiency, both these control panels are great. I have worked with the Plesk control panel. It is extremely user friendly and it wont be difficult for you to use it even if you are using it for the first time. It is one of the most secure and stable control panels that ensures higher efficiency. Moreover it is enriched with a host of features that enable automation; this control panel surely simplifies website hosting.

I will recommend using cPanel if you are going to be using Linux OS for your server. It makes it easy to manage your stuff with it. Plesk is good but when it comes to linux cpanel is what users prefer.

This is the reason due to which we offer cPanel control panel with our Linux shared plans and Linux Shared Cloud hosting plans. cPanel has been the most widely used control panel for Linux hosting plans and servers due to it's user friendly interface and the options it offers. Support is also easily available.

cPanel is one of the most efficient control panels. The best part of cPanel is that it simplifies website hosting through intitive graphical interfcae through which all the applications on the website can be edited easily. It also facilitates easy management of domains.

Thank you all for the great replies. I believe most of my queries are now answered.

Oh and another question about billing, if I pay the invoice a day or two late is my server cancelled?

We provide 5 days grace period after the due date of your invoice, if you fail to pay within the grace period your server will be suspended and a late fee will be charged when you come to renew it.
