Default Hosting option for 100 blogs

I am planning to build about 100 blogs (WordPress) and let say that I expect around 2000 unique visitor per month (100 blogs x 2000 unique visitors per month = 200.000 UV/month). My question is which web hosting plan can manage this blogs/traffics? Should I opt for a shared hosting plan? If not, how about VPS, can VPS handle this? I am not quite sure about a dedicated server, but for now I think a Windows VPS hosting plan is the appropriate option for this project.

Can someone please give me more information on this?

Considering your requirements, you can opt for a high end VPS. But I would recommend you to opt for a Cloud Server. The reason behind this is, the efficiency and the features of a Cloud server are much better compared to a VPS.
A cloud server environment makes use of a number of different servers in a cluster, to ensure that there will always be at least one server available to cope up with the load on the cluster or to replace a crashed server. The hosting is spread across the entire Cloud and each server is generally assigned to perform a single task meaning that a single cloud hosting account will never be relying on an individual server in the cluster.
A cloud server will offer you a 100% uptime (Network and power) and also offers individual scalability of resources like CPU, RAM, Space and Bandwidth which is not offered on a VPS.

Hi Alicia,

I'd definitely recommend you do not opt for a shared hosting package; it is unsustainable especially considering we are hosting thousands of websites on a single high-performance server. I would definitely recommend you to at least consider a high-end VPS or even Dedicated Server, or as my colleague suggested above, a Cloud Server.

If you have any questions or enquiries, you are welcome to contact our sales department.

The cloud hosting platform looks good to me. However I was thinking I could start with a VPS hosting plan and then I could upgrade to a cloud hosting plan as the traffic increases.

You can surely start with a VPS hosting plan. VPS hosting is also considered to be as good as dedicated hosting. Every virtual private server consists of dedicated hosting resources that provides the user with complete control of the hosting environment. If you elaborate on the hosting configurations you are looking for, I will be able to suggest you with an appropriate hosting plan.

Yes, you can consider a VPS to start with and upgrade to a Cloud server if your requirements increase in future. The upgrade process will be made the easiest for you. As you are looking forward to host Wordpress blogs, I would suggest you to choose a Linux VPS with cPanel/WHM control panel as this solution will be cheaper for you and will be better in terms of functionality.

This solution sounds great; however I have been using the Windows operating system. Would there be any difference in terms of hosting efficiency?

The operating system of your local machine won't make any difference. As your website will be hosted on the server and you can access your server/website through a browser based interface, it will not make any difference in the hosting efficiency.

Even if you have Windows operating system on your local machine, you can choose a Linux hosting plan or server. If you choose a Linux hosting plan, you will be able to access it using the control panel offered with it, however, if you choose a Linux server, you will be able to access it using SSH.

When it comes to Wordpress, users prefer Linux over Windows. It generally does what a users needs.

Whether you choose a linux shared plan or a linux server like a VPS< Semi-dedicated or cloud, you can have a control panel installed on any of these.

If you choose a Linux VPS with cPanel control panel for hosting Wordpress blogs, opting for Softaculous auto-installer would be a great benefit as it will allow you to install and update Wordpress with a few simple clicks. Even though it's a paid application, it's worth the amount you pay for it as you will be able to save a lot of time if you have Softaculous installed on the VPS.
